Steel ball inserts
PLANOLITH surface plates are machined and bedded on exactly predetermined points. On these points are steel balls inserted. The installation has to be done on these steel balls to guarantee an adequate accuracy.
Therefore the steel balls always have to be ordered together with the surface plate!
You must keep the following points in mind when installing the measuring and control plates:• Setting up on the three red points (see illustration)

- Leveling on these three points
- Tighten all other supporting elements tightly (against bending and tilting)
